VTCT LEVEL 3 IS EQUIVALENT TO LEVEL 5 NFQ IN THE NATIONAL FRAMEWORK

This course is for candidates in the barbering and hairdressing industry who want to build on their already existing knowledge.

You will learn a variety of cuts and styles, which will bring you to full qualification.

Master the art of blending, texturising, tapering, working with cutthroat blades, finishing and styling.

Learn the art of Hot Towel Shaves, and how to complete with confidence the service that your client requires.

Running 4 days a week, Tuesday to Friday with a bonus SIX WEEKS FURTHER TRAINING which will give you experience working in the live environment which could lead to possible full-time employment. Twelve weeks training in total.

Your Fee Covers: Professional Equipment, Registration Fees for VTCT, Learning Tools, and Exam Administration worth €300 provided and VTCT level 2 Certificate bringing all students to the level of junior barber.

During your studies, you will also receive a complimentary hot towel shave workshop AND fade workshop, which will further add to your skills.

A Deposit of €400 required to hold your place, balance can be paid weekly.

The aim of this unit is to increase your understanding of health and safety and its importance in the salon in which you work. You will develop the ability to carry out a simple risk analysis, recognise a hazard and how to deal with the hazard responsibly. You will have the ability to set up and follow safe and hygienic working practices. You will also develop the ability to locate firefighting equipment, and first aid resources and have an awareness of fire, emergency and evacuation procedures.

You will develop the ability to provide an effective consultation & advisory service for your clients. Being able to identify the capability of your client’s hair will allow you to make recommendations based on questioning, observation & test results. You will develop the ability to shampoo hair correctly & to provide correct customer care. You will learn how to deal with influencing factors like the clients’ previous history of their hair, contraindications, skin & scalp disorders, their lifestyle, and commitment to the service involved.

Throughout this unit, you will learn how to create a variety of different looks for men using a variety of different techniques such as clippers over comb, scissors over comb, freehand and contouring. Using these cutting techniques you will be able to demonstrate that you can produce a variety of beard and moustache looks to suit your clients. You will demonstrate working on curly and straight hair taking into consideration all influencing factors.

Throughout this unit you will learn how to create a variety of different looks for men (both curly & straight hair) using scissors, thinning scissors, detailer, clippers and attachments, club cutting, texturising, tapering, blending, scissors over comb, clippers over comb, freehand styling and finishing, different products for recommendation to clients and advice on aftercare. Using these cutting techniques you will demonstrate that you can produce a variety of graduated and uniform layered haircuts, with or without fringes and partings.

We opened our first salon on Aungier Street, Dublin 2 in November of 2017, powered by the determination of our Dublin based Creative Director, Glenn McGoldrick. MENSPIRE has since flourished in the Irish market as a result of the high standards and values that we hold among our team of barbers in Dublin.

In September 2019, we will be opening our second Salon and state of the art training Academy in Phibsborough, Dublin 7.
