This event will give IPT points and ranking for categories A in Men and Women

Thank you once again for the confidence and support as well as all the gestures of gratitude to the club and the organization of events by players and families.

1-All categories will be played up to 9 games and tie break in case of tie with golden point system. Men A and Women A will be played to 2 sets Plate matches will be played for 1 set only (remember to apply for it)

2-A player or team can be substituted before the tournament if this doesn’t affect the seeds draw. If this situation affects the draw the player or team substituted cannot have more ranking points than the actual team.

3-Warm-up of 2 minutes maximum before the match start (We recommend to warm up outside the court before the match. Failure to comply with this rule may result in sanctions for both teams.

4-The team that arrives 10 minutes late on the timetable will be given the match for lost 6/0 6/0. Failure to show up will result in a forfeit. Unless it’s agreed with IPT team.

5-International disciplinary conduct rules will be applied in every match. Any kind of unjustified protests, insults or threats may result in tournament and permanent sanction.

6-Results must be communicated and scored once the match is over. Players must apply for the Plate after their matches if needed.

7-The courts may not be used unless it is an official match or the organization allows the use of these.

8-Players with debts will not be able to take part of the Championship, being the inscription null and void.

9-Trophies and prizes will be handed out directly at the photo-call after each final.

Our team is fully qualified through Tennis Ireland and the Professional Tennis Registry, working together for over seven years.

We began as an academy teaching 8 years ago in the local area. Over time we found enthusiastic players wanted to play socially and competitively outside of their classes, hence we started a club. As we continued to grow we took great pride in seeing players we taught become coaches in their own right.

We are now, as one parent put it, "a tennis family," working and training together.

Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1877 and is one of the oldest Tennis Clubs in the world. We are located on Appian Way, Dublin 6 Club facilities include:

We have a fully equipped Gym and a 17 metre Swimming Pool, together with a Snooker Room.

Other facilities available include Aerobics, Walking group, Bridge, Massage, Barber and Martyn Evans Sports Shop.

The Club is a private members' club and applicants must be proposed and seconded by Club members.

The Fitzwilliam Story - (extracts from "The Fitzwilliam Story" 1877 - 1977 by Ulick O'Connor)

It was not, in fact, first called the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club. In November 1877 ten men met to found the Dublin Lawn Tennis Club. It was to have 30 members who pay a subscription of £3 a year. At the next meeting on 23rd November, it was decided to lease some ground in Upper Pembroke Street (just off Fitzwilliam Square) from Sir Francis Brady for £25 per annum on a ten year lease. It wasn’t until the next meeting on December 6th that Arnold Graves, one of the Committee, proposed that to “avoid confusion” the Club be called the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club”...

The names of the first Committee were F W Browne, 47 Raglan Road; A F Graves, University Club; F E Greene, 49 Stephens Green; J G Kennedy, Belgard, Clondalkin; J J D La Touche, 1 Ely Place: C D LA Touche, 34 Stephens Green; J J Stopford, 24 Merrion Street; G McMurdo, Irish Lights Office; J L Wingfield, Fairy Hill, Bray; R Guinness (co-opted), 10 Lower Leeson Street...

In 1880, the Club made its first change of premises. There was not sufficient room at Upper Pembroke Street to accommodate the growing membership. A ground at Wilton Place adjacent to Lad Lane was selected and a house, No. 6 Wilton Place, was purchased as a Club premises.

Courts were laid down and the house converted for Club purposes with a few rooms upstairs reserved for resident members. This was to be the Fitzwilliam grounds for 92 years, though until 1903 the Irish championships would continue to be played at Fitzwilliam Square...

In 1902 a decision was taken to build a pavilion at the grounds at Wilton Place. The house at 6 Wilton Place was to be sold. The pavilion would be build by a Mr Metz of 62 Coleman Street, London. Many who recall the old pavilion at Wilton Place will recollect the hint of a Swedish summer house.

It is interesting to note that Mr. Metz, the builder was listed in London was an importer of Norwegian and Swedish houses...

In 1903 it was decided to change the venue of the championships from Fitzwilliam Square to the ground where the new pavilion would stand.

From that year up to 1972 (with one exception) the championships would be played at Wilton Place.

In 1969 the members were called on to make a decision which would involve moving premises from Wilton Place...
