Anne Ruane Keaney, is the founder and Director of Columbus Club which comprises Columbus Reading Academy, Columbus Academy, Columbus Easter & Summer Camps and Columbus Academy for Teenagers. Anne was inspired to establish Columbus Club in 2010 after a distinguished career in education, during which she achieved the notable distinction of being appointed Principal of a second-level school at an early stage in her career (Mercy College, Glenamaddy, Co. Galway).

Anne’s leadership skills were further recognised when she was subsequently appointed Principal of Athenry Vocational College with a teaching staff of sixty teachers and over eight hundred second-level students, (ranging in age from 12 – 18). It was during her time at Athenry Vocational College that Anne broadened the scope and reach of the school by extending the range of subjects offered to the student body and by introducing a new adult education programme.

Anne’s leadership skills, her commitment to educational excellence and innovative approaches to learning led to the formation of Columbus Club/Columbus Academy. Initially, the total emphasis was on reading, encouraging a love of books and reading which evolved to include a range of disciplines.

This is for children who attend local primary schools, Presentation, St. Josephs and St. Pius. Junior Infants to 4th Class. School pick up from 1:30pm, dinner, supervised homework and playtime activities up to 6:00pm.


Our annual Junior and Senior Summer Camps are for Primary School children, Junior Infants to 4th Class. Six weeks of fun in July and August, half day 9:30am to 2:00pm, full day 8:30am to 6:00pm.


On the leafy historic grounds of Terenure College sits our Horizons campus of two adjacent buildings.


Our Junior and Senior Infants are based in “The Clubhouse”. Our 1st to 4th Class students are based in “The Hub”.


Open all year round for after school care and summer camps. We have the benefit of outside astro surfaces, grass pitches, lake and woods for games and activities.


The Clubhouse is named after its previous role as a Scout Den.

Here Junior and Senior Infants come for after school care during national school term and they can attend full days when their national school is on holidays. It is also their base for Summer Camp.


The building is a hive of activity with a welcoming home from home atmosphere.

In 2018 we expanded and built a second building which we call "The Hub".

It is a purpose built school containing a staff room, kitchen, six classrooms, four of which can be merged into larger rooms.

This building houses our 1st to 4th class children for after school care during national school term and they can attend full days when their national school is on holidays.

It has a large enclosed Astro surface outside which we use for outdoor activities. It also has access to the Rugby pitches for field games.

4worldlovers: We run a variety of LEGO based camps in various locations throughout Ireland. Each camp covers a variety of different themes such as Robotics, Mechanics Engineering, Construction, Science, and Creativity and are suitable for children aged 6-16yrs.

Our Workshops are one off themed days that we run on Saturdays/Sundays in various locations. Your children will have tonnes of fun exploring mechanics, engineering and much more through the use of LEGO Education.

We offer a range of workshops which are suitable from Junior Infants up to 6th Year. Learn it workshops complement the STEM, S.E.S.E. and Maths curriculum in a fun and engaging way and our workshops enable students to exercise scientific inquiry skills through direct hand on science, maths, engineering & technology (S.T.E.M.) activities
